Learning Environment Here at preschool we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum however, our emphasis is on learning through play as opposed to direct teaching methods. We support the children’s own interests by incorporating these into the daily planned activities. Staff monitor, observe, record and evaluate continually. Within the session the children will have opportunity to engage in a range of activities including art & craft, physical play, table top activities and much more. However this play does fall within Government guidelines for the Early Years Foundation Stage. The children are also encouraged to take part in adult-led small and large group activities which introduce them to new experiences and help them to gain new skills, as well as helping them to learn to work with others. As a preschool we aim to build children's confidence and self-help skills, encourage independence and team-work and promote caring positive behaviour towards others at all times. Our setting is involved with the Thrive ethos which promotes emotional development for wellbeing and learning. The children have have access to our large garden, available all day and we actively encourage the children to play outdoors as much as possible in all weathers. Our Keyworker System When children start at our preschool they will be allocated a ‘Key Worker’ and will join a small group. In these groups the children will get used to working and playing together, under the guidance of their Key Worker. We use Famly On-Line Learning Journal for children as a record of achievements and progress throughout the foundation stage. You will be given your own personal log-in details to access their journal. Makaton We are a Makaton Setting, using sign to support speech. |
